SWEEP stands for “students wanting to encourage education and prevention” (on drugs including alcohol). How does it work? ...High school students who want to help other youth to be healthy become SWEEP’ers (aka “Peer Facilitators”) by learning about drugs (including alcohol) from experts, then teaching what they’ve learned to their peers and younger students from elementary schools. SWEEP is a “peer-to-peer” drug awareness program, but what’s really unique about SWEEP is that its Peer Facilitators use “Playback Theatre” as their way of reaching out to and teaching other students! Playback Theatre is fun and the perfect way for SWEEP’ers to educate their peers.

This website has all you need (for adults and youTH) to create a SWEEP in your own community! You’ll notice on the top right of this page “info for youth” (this is where youTH can find out how to create your own SWEEP in your community). Make sure to look around the rest of the website too! Especially take a look at our blog and our movie clips. They rock!
Like we said, this website is for adults too. On the top right of this page you’ll see “strategy manual for adults.” This website is also designed to help adults help youTH create a SWEEP in their community.
So, what are you waiting for!? Check out this website, then get your friends, teachers, parents and other adults to help you make your own SWEEP!
